Thursday 14th May 2020 marks ten years since the official launch of Youth For Christ Calderdale. At that time we had four trustees, £60 in the bank and a vision to take the Good News of the Gospel to every young person in Calderdale. Since then we have been involved in a huge variety of projects, employed four members of staff, and had nine different trustees. We have had support from a huge number of individuals in the form of donations, sponsorship, prayer and general encouragement. We have established links with a number of churches and organisations in the area, and for the HYP project, which was funded by the Methodist Circuit for three years, we also had funding from a number of other organisations. We have worked hand in hand with other organisations such as CICS, Scripture Union, Busoasis and many more. We have seen many young people come to know Jesus as their saviour and had their lives transformed, and we are encouraged to see some of those young people growing in Christian maturity.
So we have much to celebrate. However, at this time we find ourselves at a bit of a crossroads. We have been considering whether it may be time to close the trust, but we are aware that there are still many young people in the area that still need to hear the Gospel and there may still be a place for our organisation. So what needs to change? In short, we need new people to take on the role of trustee. We have until the end of July 2020 to find the right people to take on the roles.
