Minutes of Calderdale YFC planning meeting

Present: Bob Arnold, Karen Arnold, George Smith, Richard Price, Vicky Ledwidge, David Ledwidge, Adam Keane, Tony Buck, Glenn Cannon, Dave Barker, Diane Tipping, Lizzy Johnson, Martin Hoyle

Bob opened in prayer

Project Proposal Brief discussed - Vicky explained that it was basically what had been discussed at previous meeting put down in written form. The working relationship with CICS was reiterated and clarified it was felt the two groups will not only complement each other but make both sets of activities stronger.

The question was asked would detached work form part of the activities of Calderdale YFC it was suggested that it could in the future. Clarification was sought on some of the wording of the proposal brief especially "the centre will be events based" and the part stating geographical areas. Richard to look at wording. It was decided that the trustees should agree final wording when the board is formed.
Trustees

The make up of the board was explained ( at least 5 members three executive positions needed - chair, secretary and treasurer) Three people present put themselves forward to be on the board.

George Smith: proposed by David Ledwidge, seconded by Adam Keane
Richard Price: Proposed by Dave Barker, seconded by Diane Tipping
More trustees are needed before the Board can be formed. Possible conflicts of interest were discussed for people who were members of the CICS board as well. It was also stated that it would be good to have representatives from the different parts of Calderdale if possible.

Development Team
The need for a development team was discussed. This would include people who were willing to organise and do. It would include the Trustees and others who wanted to be involved in steering the project but did not feel that they could be on the board. Volunteers to be art of the Development team included Vicky Ledwidge, Diane Tipping, Lizzy Johnson and the trustees already named.

July event
It was decided as previously discussed that there should be two social events over the summer one in July one in August, bringing youth from various churches around Calderdale together. The pro's and con's of having an event on a regular date were discussed. It was felt we should try and have a consistent pattern.
The first event will be Friday 17th July somewhere around Todmorden / Hebden Bridge. Vicky to organise and details to come later.

Youth Alpha
There is a Youth Alpha conference in Preston on the 20th June
It was agreed Calderdale YFC to support local youth Alpha initatives in September. Idea to be taken back to churches and Churches Together groups.

There is a Calderdale YFC website up and running. yfccalderdale.org.uk

Next meeting
Next meeting of the team will be Tuesday June 2nd 7:30 at All Saints, Dudwell Lane, Skircoat Green, Halifax. This will be primarily a business meeting.
